Watch: Aston Villa ace scores spectacular goal on international duty

By Amir Mir

Aston Villa ace Jonathan Kodjia scored a spectacular goal for the Ivory Coast during their 2-0 win against Russia at the Krasnodar Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The 27-year-old opened the scoring by running down the left wing, holding off his man and unleashing a powerful strike in the top right-hand corner of the net.

Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha doubled his side’s lead when he beat three players to ensure his team went away with a win.

Here is a Villa supporter posting a video of Kodjia’s goal on his personal Twitter account:

Since making his debut for his country in May, Kodjia has had an impressive start to his international career, scoring five goals in nine matches.

This is added to the fine form he has produced for Steve Bruce’s side in the Championship, scoring 15 goals during the 2016/17 campaign and supplying two assists.

Furthermore, he has scored four goals in his last five league matches for Villa which has helped his side pick up a much-needed four wins.

Following Villa’s relegation from the Premier League last season, they purchased Kodjia from Bristol City to help them secure instant promotion.

Manager sackings and inconsistent performances has contributed to Villa falling short of their target as they are 11 points off the top six with eight games remaining.

In other Aston Villa news, Andre Green has revealed that this senior player is late for training.
