West Ham fans all say the same as fresh Callum Wilson agreement sealed

West Ham United fans are going to be seeing more of Callum Wilson in their colours next season after he has agreed a one-year contract extension.

The former Newcastle United striker has penned a new deal to extend his stay at the London Stadium, ahead of his contract being due to expire at the end of the season.

Wilson arrived in East London as a free agent last summer, and he has since struck five goals from 24 appearances in the Premier League, as the Irons continue to fight against the threat of relegation.

West Ham’s transfer plans are beginning to take shape for next season, despite the uncertainty of which league they will be in, and it is now clear that Wilson is still valued as a member of the squad.

West Ham fans in panic mode over new Callum Wilson deal

Wilson’s injury record has been a problem for him over the years, and he has already shown signs of the same old issues affecting him at his latest club.

The 34-year-old has been fit enough to start just 10 league games so far this term, but is still only being outscored by Jarrod Bowen within the rest of Nuno Espirito Santo’s group.

He has now reached an agreement in principle with West Ham to prolong his stay by another year, according to The Telegraph, having forced his way back into the manager’s plans of late.

However, the fans have shown concern that this news is a sign that the club are slowly resigning themselves to losing their Premier League status at the end of the campaign.

Supporters have taken to X to share their thoughts on the renewal, and they have all made it clear that this is a deal that has been conducted with the possibility of Championship football in mind.

One fan suggested that the Irons have already entered “Championship mode,” while another indicated that Wilson “will be the top scorer in the league next season.”

Wilson extension completes total London Stadium U-turn

Football Insider revealed back in January that Celtic, Ipswich and Everton were all exploring a deal for Wilson, amid talk of his contract being terminated prematurely at West Ham.

However, since then, he has been able to prove his worth to Nuno and his coaching staff once again, and he has now completed the full U-turn by penning a new deal.

Wilson is certainly not a long-term solution for the capital club, but his goals have been valuable to them this season, and Nuno will be hoping that he still has a few more in him between now and the end of the campaign.

If West Ham do ultimately suffer the drop, Nuno will already know that he has a proven goalscorer at second tier level within his group, as well as someone who has already experienced promotion to the top flight.
