West Ham player ratings v Man City: Defensive pair 4/10
By Dominic Toner
Football Insider rates the West Ham players after their 4-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday.
Darren Randolph 5 – The goalkeeper conceded four goals and was not helped by his lacklustre defence. Could have done better on a couple of occasions.
Sam Byram 5 – The right-back found it extremely difficult to deal with the pace and trickery of Leroy Sane throughout the entire game.
Jose Fonte 4 – A poor debut for the January signing after seeing his team ship four goals against a quality Man City team. Gave away a penalty in the second-half when the game was already over.
Winston Reid 5 – The centre-back looked vulnerable against a superior Man City attack and
Aaron Cresswell 4 – Poor misplaced pass which led to Man City’s opening goal and had a dreadful night against Raheem Sterling.
Pedro Obiang 5 – He was culpable for one of the goals after a lazy pass in the middle of the park, struggled to deal with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva.
Mark Noble 5 – The skipper struggled to get on the ball in midfield and offered little protection in front of the defence.
Sofiane Feghouli 5 – Was seriously quiet in the game and could find his spot under pressure from signing Robert Snodgrass.
Manuel Lanzini 5 – The playmaker has been tasked with providing the creative spark left behind by Dimitri Payet, but was short of that mark.
Michaill Antonio 5 – Struggled to get into the game or make a serious impact.
Andy Carroll 5 – The striker battled well in attack, but was given very limited chances and failed to create any goalscoring chances.
Robert Snodgrass (for Feghouli 64mins) 5
Edimilson Fernandes (for Obiang 64mins) 5
Ashley Fletcher (for Carroll 79mins) 5
