West Ham set for mass player exodus and ‘sale of assets’ after ‘red flashing light’ emerges
West Ham United will have no choice but to sell players or other assets after making a loss of over £100million in their latest financial accounts.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as turnover fell £42.1m at West Ham over the last financial year.
The Hammers had made a profit of £57.2m in the 2023-24 season, but that was turned into a huge loss due to factors like poor recruitment, managerial changes and no European football.
Relegation to the Championship would continue to hurt West Ham financially, with the club currently inside the bottom three in the Premier League on goal difference.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that West Ham’s accounts are “very concerning” and a mass exodus of star players is imminent.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the club needs to raise funds in the summer.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’s very, very concerning, of all the financial accounts that I’ve seen coming out this is the one that has a red flashing light for me.
“I think it hasn’t come with quite the note from the auditors saying there’s a real problem, but they’ve said, look, you know, if there’s going to be problems around the going concern issue, even, you know, talking about things like going concern, then they’re going to have to do some player trading.
“So it’s definitely an issue that there’s going to have to be some sale of assets.”

Jarrod Bowen’s West Ham future uncertain
Sources have told Football Insider that Jarrod Bowen’s future at West Ham will be decided by whether the club remains in the Premier League.
Bowen is unlikely to remain at the London Stadium if the club are relegated to the Championship, with an exodus of players on the cards if they drop into the second tier.
The 29-year-old has been West Ham captain since August 2024, and has scored eight Premier League goals this season.
