West Ham tipped to spend ‘serious money’ on Ogbonna replacement in January – pundit
West Ham could spend “serious money” in their bid to replace the injured Angelo Ogbonna in the January transfer window.
That’s according to former Leeds stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hammers’ January plans.
Ogbonna, 33, suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in the Hammers’ 3-2 win over Liverpool on 7 November.

As a result, Kenny claims West Ham will speed up their plan to replace Ogbonna instead of potentially loaning a player to take his place while he;s injured.
“They still have quality players,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Ogbonna is such a vital player for them and I do think his experience will be missed.
“I think it’s just obvious to go out and replace a player who is going to be out for so long.
“He’s not the youngest player either, so maybe West Ham could accelerate the process of getting a replacement in instead of getting a loan.
“That would allow them to spend a bit of money. They won’t go cheap if they want to buy a long-term replacement.
“We will have to see what happens but if West Ham want to stay at that end of the table they need to spend serious money.
“That’s just the way it is.”

West Ham beat Chelsea 3-2 on Saturday (4 December).
This kept the Hammers in fourth.
