Medical expert ‘surprised’ by behind-the-scenes Max Kilman news at Wolves
It is a “surprise” to see Wolves defender Max Kilman return to action ahead of schedule.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
An ankle injury has meant that Kilman, 25, has not featured in a competitive match since early April.
But as confirmed by club media last Saturday (9 July), the centre-back made his non-competitive return in the 3-0 behind-closed-doors friendly win over Burnley.
Bruno Lage’s side are just under a month from the start of their 2022-23 campaign.
Dinnery admitted that he was surprised to see Kilman back in action so early.
“Everything is in place for him to be raring to go,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“Bruno Lage always maintained that his target was going to be game week one and we have seen him working individually ahead of that return.
“Maybe the fact that he played in that behind-the-closed doors game against Burnley came a bit of a surprise. That was maybe seven days earlier than I expected him.
“But it looks like he has come through that with no problem. Now, it’s just a case of reintegrating him and ramping up those minutes.
“Barring any setbacks or reaction, I fully expect him to be vying for a place in that starting XI come game week one.”

Kilman scored once in 34 apperances in 2021-22.
He will hope to be fully fit for Wolves’ opening Premier League match against Leeds United on 6 August.
