Wolves to land £80m+ in next days after Jorgen Strand Larsen latest

Wolves could be set to land an £80million-plus payout after the Jorgen Strand Larsen latest at Molineux.

Newcastle United have been targeting Strand Larsen ahead of the transfer window closing on 1 September.

Eddie Howe’s side are considering their striker options following the speculation surrounding Alexander Isak, who is currently on strike as he looks to secure a move to Liverpool.

Wolves have rejected two bids from Newcastle for Strand Larsen, with the second offer worth up to £55million after an earlier £50million proposal was dismissed.

However, the Tyneside club are now expected to submit an improved bid worth around £60million for the Norway international.

Newcastle are ‘overpaying’ for Jorgen Strand Larsen

Wolves have been holding out for more than £60million for Strand Larsen, so there is a chance they could turn down another bid.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider Newcastle were already “overpaying” for Strand Larsen with their previous bids.

Wolves signed the 25-year-old on a permanent deal for £23million in July, having spent last season on loan at Molineux from Celta Vigo.

The striker registered 14 goals and five assists in 38 appearances across the 2024-25 campaign, while he bagged his first two goals of the new season in Wolves’ 3-2 victory over West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday (26 August).

Strand Larsen isn’t the only forward who could be leaving Molineux before the transfer window closes.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday (27 August) Borussia Dortmund have agreed to sign Fabio Silva from Wolves, with the deal worth up to £22.9million including add-ons.

Vitor Pereira’s side could, therefore, be in line to bank more than £80million if they sell Silva and Strand Larsen over the coming days.

Wolves have banked £90m+ after exits

Wolves could continue to play hardball over a deal for Strand Larsen due to Newcastle’s need to sign a new striker.

Howe’s side have missed on multiple targets this summer, while they have so far failed in their efforts to bring in Brentford star Yoane Wissa.

Wolves have already sold some big names in the current transfer window, with Matheus Cunha joining Manchester United for £62.5million and Rayan Ait-Nouri heading to Manchester City in a £36million deal.

Meanwhile, Fer Lopez, Jhon Arias, Jackson Tchatchoua and David Moller Wolfe have joined Pereira’s side alongside Strand Larsen this summer, taking their overall spending to around £80million.

Wolves are yet to pick up a point in the Premier League after losing their opening two games of the new season.
