‘World-class’ – Sam Allardyce makes huge claim about Tottenham star

By Danny Wright

Former England manager Sam Allardyce has made a massive claim that Tottenham star Harry Kane is on the verge of being a “world-class” striker.

Kane, 23, has been in irresistible goalscoring form for Spurs over the past few seasons and many think the striker is in line to overtake Alan Shearer’s Premier League goal record in the future.

The England international struck twice on Saturday when Mauricio Pochettino’s men dispatched of Everton 3-0, with his first strike being his 100th in the English top-flight.

Allardyce now thinks that Kane can be classed as being up there with some of the best in the world, not only because of his ability to find the net, but with the other qualities he brings to the Spurs attack.

“As a goalscorer he’s getting into the world-class area,” Allardyce said, as quoted on the Sky Sports website.

“He’s continued to consistently score goals from every type of goal you look for.

“Not only that, his hold-up play outside the box has improved tremendously. It looks like his upper body has got stronger. He can hold off defenders now and take the physical side of it.”

Kane’s form has been a major part in what has seen Tottenham become close to challenging for the Premier League title in the last two seasons.

Last term, the 21-times England international scored pretty much a goal-a-game with 29 strikes in 30 league matches while scoring a further six in other competitions.

Pochettino will no doubt be hoping that Kane can replicate his domestic form in the Champions League this season, starting on Wednesday night when Spurs welcome German giants Borussia Dortmund to Wembley.
