Tottenham are expected to make two changes to their starting line-up to play Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage opener on Wednesday night.
Mauricio Pochettino is very likely to bring Mousa Dembele back into his squad with Moussa Sissoko being omitted from his spot in the centre of midfield for the Wembley encounter after he picked up a knock at the weekend.
Dembele, 30, was left out of the first-team that beat Everton 3-0 on Saturday, seemingly being rested for the Dortmund encounter, with Sissoko, 28, playing a starring role in the midfield until he was taken off in the 78th minute.
Pochettino is now expected to revert back to starting the Belgian international as he has done on so many times when preparing for the big occasions.
Dele Alli is also suspended for the clash after he picked up a three-game suspension in the Europa League last season.
The England international is likely to be replaced by Heung-min Son.
Tottenham are likely to keep the same 3-4-3 formation from the team that brushed aside an Everton side which should have done better to limit Pochettino’s men.
Captain Hugo Lloris is expected to keep his place in goal behind a backline of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and summer signing Davinson Sanchez, who made his full debut at Goodison Park at the weekend.
In-form Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier could keep their slots in the wide positions while Eric Dier will possibly line up alongside Dembele in the heart of the formation.
Christian Eriksen, Son and Harry Kane looks likely to be the front three due to Alli’s untimely suspension that he picked up against Gent last season.
Spurs have been handed an extremely tough group in the Champions League this season with fixtures against Real Madrid and APOEL Nicosia to come over the new few months.
If Tottenham want to have any chance at qualifying for the knock-out rounds of the competition they must begin by addressing their poor form at Wembley after that was ultimately what saw them relegated to the Europa League last term in a much easier group.
In other Tottenham news, Sissoko has revealed what has made his form transform dramatically this season.
