Yves Bissouma: ‘Outstanding’ signing thrills expert as another Tottenham deal confirmed

Tottenham are about to sign an “outstanding” player with Yves Bissouma close to joining the club.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s latest transfer move.

On Friday (17 June) Tottenham confirmed Bissouma as their latest signing.

The 25-year-old becomes the club’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.

McAvennie has been left impressed with Bissouma and insists Spurs have signed an “outstanding” player.

“With these deals, Tottenham aren’t going to spend £85million on someone like Nunez,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Conte will know, he’s a damn good manager and he’s a leader of players.

“He knows how good this boy is. I thought he did alright at Brighton last year.

“I’m always a great believer that if you are playing in a lesser team, you should be the outstanding player and he has been standing out.

“He has proved he can go up a level and Tottenham will be up a level next season.

“No disrespect to Potter, I just think going to play for an elite manager like Conte, it doesn’t get better than that.”

Bissouma made 28 appearances for Brighton across all competitions during the 2021-22 season.

He missed three games through suspension and also competed for his country during the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
