Alan Shearer aims dig at Alexander Isak in Liverpool transfer message
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Alexander Isak after Hugo Ekitike’s standout display for Liverpool.
It has been a frustrating summer for Newcastle, with several transfer targets slipping away and the ongoing saga surrounding Isak’s future casting a shadow over preparations.
The Swedish striker has been a fan favourite in recent seasons, scoring 23 goals and providing six assists last term as the Magpies lifted the Carabao Cup.
But the situation has soured quickly, with Isak now refusing to train and left out of the squad for the clash against Aston Villa in a bid to force a move to Liverpool.
Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are readying a fresh £120million bid for Isak, and Ekitike’s latest performance at Anfield has only intensified the speculation after Newcastle legend Shearer added to the conversation with a tongue-in-cheek message directed at the Swede.

Alan Shearer sends message to Isak after Hugo Ekitike shines for Liverpool
The Premier League kicked off on 15 August with Liverpool starting their title defence in style, sealing a dramatic 4-2 win over Bournemouth.
New signing Ekitike delivered a standout performance, scoring his first league goal and providing an assist on his debut at Anfield.
Following the display, Shearer aimed a playful dig at Isak on X, posting: “Surely any forward thinking of going to Liverpool will be having second thoughts now, having to play second fiddle to the brilliant Ekitike all season?” accompanied by emojis.
The Frenchman joined Liverpool earlier this summer in a £79million deal but Ekitike had also been on Newcastle’s radar as a possible replacement for Isak. But with the Swedish striker now pushing for an Anfield switch, it appears Arne Slot wants both forwards available.
However, Football Insider revealed that Isak could find himself in breach of contract if he continues to refuse to play, complicating the situation.

Newcastle prepare bid for Samu Aghehowa as Isak exit looms
The Magpies are unlikely to sanction Isak’s departure without securing a replacement, but they are already making moves in the market.
Football Insider report that Newcastle are set to launch a bid for FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa as a like-for-like replacement for the Swede.
The 21-year-old is settled in Portugal, but should personal terms be agreed, the door could open for Isak to finally get his wish and leave St James’ Park.
