Anthony Gordon agrees ‘six-year Newcastle deal’ until 2030 – sources
Anthony Gordon has agreed to sign a new six-year deal Newcastle United contract, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the soon-to-be-announced deal is set to put off interest from Liverpool, who had been strong suitors for Gordon in the summer.
Football Insider first revealed on 6th September that the England winger was opening new contract talks before updating a fortnight ago that an agreement was now in place between player and club.
He had entered the final two years of his previous contract, and elite clubs including Liverpool were eyeing a possible cut-price deal for his signature next summer.
Now, the decision to sign such a long-term contract has put to bed the concern about a possible at the club, but sources say the Reds remain admirers of his.
The 23-year-old has established himself as a key player in Eddie Howe’s side and the club are hoping his commitment will end any speculation over his future.
Despite that interest, it would now take a “huge” transfer fee for any club to tempt the Magpies into a sale in the near future.
Anthony Gordon commits to six-year Newcastle contract amid Liverpool speculation
Gordon has improved greatly under the guidance of Howe since his £45million move to St James’ Park from Everton in January 2023.
Last season, he bagged 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions, earning himself a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.
Despite some underwhelming performances so far this season, the winger remains a key part of the first team and has also shown his versatility when filling in as a striker.
Amid plenty of speculation over his future, the club were desperate to tie him down to a new long-term deal to ensure his immediate future would lie in the North East.
Football Insider revealed on 29 September that the winger is now among the highest-paid players at Newcastle alongside Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes.

Gordon showed he was back to his best form in the 1-1 Premier League draw with Manchester City and will be looking to kick on after signing the new deal.
