Arsenal’s chances of signing Nico Williams revealed after latest development
Arsenal are leading the race of Premier League clubs hoping to sign Athletic Club winger Nico Williams this summer.
The winger signed a staggering 10-year contract extension last summer and is under terms until at least 2035.
Yet sources say the 23-year-old can still leave if a club is willing to match the release clause in his deal, reportedly worth around £87million.
Williams attracted huge interest in the summer of 2024, after he had backed up a superb club season with a strong European Championship campaign.

It has been a difficult season for Williams, who has scored just four goals across 26 appearances amid several injury issues.
The winger is currently out injured with a hernia, and will need likely need to up his game significantly if he is to go to the World Cup with Spain.
The 23-year-old was missing from Luis de la Fuente’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers played in both November and October.

Should Williams be included, a big World Cup could be key to a big summer move. The European champions are hoping to win the competition for just the second time ever in North America.
It would take significant finances to complete a move for the forward this summer, but former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider this month that Arsenal will smash their club-record revenue this year.
The Gunners posted narrow losses for the last financial year, but are expected to see revenue soar amid a successful season.
One major bookmaker has named Arsenal the favourites to sign Williams at 5/1, followed by Liverpool (6/1) and Barcelona (7/1).
Williams would be a perfect fit for Arsenal
The left of the attack seems to be the position that is constantly under debate in Mikel Arteta’s team.
Leandro Trossard has provided quality there, but the winger has stopped producing of late, and Gabriel Martinelli rarely performs in the Premier League.

Eberechi Eze is another option in the position, but Arteta has been hesitant to use an inside creator rather than a more traditional wide man.
Williams could be the solution to the debate, but whether Arsenal are willing to splash the cash for him this summer remains to be seen.
