Aston Villa are preparing 'very cheeky' bid for Grealish replacement and £20m+ 'will seal deal' - pundit

Aston Villa will have to splash out £20million-plus to prise Dwight McNeil from Burnley, according to Noel Whelan.

The former striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Villa see the winger as a potential replacement for Jack Grealish.

The Villans' need for new attackers has been increased after Trezeguet was ruled out for a year after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

However, Whelan insisted the Midlands giants would get a frosty response from Burnley with a £15million offer.

"It's a very cheeky bid," Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.

"You're not testing the water there, it's very cold. I'm sure that's what Burnley will be thinking as well, it's got ice in it.

"You're going to be looking £20million. The early £20millions, at least, to seal the deal. With his age, his talent and the fact that he's wanted. I know how important he is to Burnley and Sean Dyche.

"He's one of these players that can do something out of nothing, a great left foot.

"Maybe, just maybe, they're looking at him as a replacement for Jack Grealish, who knows."
