Aston Villa fans react on Twitter as senior player faces seven-match absence

Steve Bruce has confirmed that Scott Hogan could miss up to five weeks of action – and fans on Twitter are pleased the injury is not as bad as they first thought.

The 24-year-old was stretchered off with an ankle injury during Villa’s 2-0 defeat at Newcastle on Monday night.

Hogan made a £12million switch to Villa Park during the January window when he left Championship rivals Brentford.

Since his arrival, he has played four matches for the club, but he is yet to get off the mark with a goal.

Now, Hogan could miss up to seven matches for his team starting with Derby at weekend and ending with a clash against Norwich at the start of April where he could make a return.

Many fans on social media believe that the news about Hogan was very good as at one point it had seemed that the injury he suffered was serious.

However, others supporters joked that by the time the striker returns Villa could be in the bottom three as they aim to stop their five-match losing streak.

One fan pointed out that upon his return, his teammates should start passing him the ball and rewarding him for the runs he makes off the ball.

Furthermore, with only Jonathan Kodjia left as the remaining senior centre-forward at the club, one supporter wants to see academy product Rushian Hepburn-Murphy start.

Overall, the Villa Park faithful were positive about the news.
