‘Certified baller’, ‘Different class’ – Celtic fans react to new signing in classy debut v Hearts
By Harry Sykes
Olivier Ntcham made his competitive debut for Celtic on Saturday as last season’s treble winners dispatched Heart of Midlothian at a canter.
Celtic were at home for their opening game of the Premiership campaign and started this season as they finished the last, with a 4-1 drubbing of Hearts.
Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring in the 29th minute and added his second and Rangers’ third in the 63rd minute.
Scott Sinclair scored the second in the 51st minute before Callum McGregor wrapped up a comfortable victory in the 73rd minute.
All eyes were on Olivier Ntcham though, and he had a glorious opportunity to kick off his career at Celtic Park with a bang.
He had a great chance to make it five in the 75th minute but dragged his shot just wide.
However, it was his range of passing that stood out for the Celtic fans, who gave the new boy a resounding thumbs up on social media.
He was substituted off in the 87th minute to a great ovation from the Celtic faithful.
Unfortunately, some of the sheen was taken off the Celtic performance after they conceded a late consolation for Hearts when Esmaël Gonçalves scored in the 84th minute.
Here is a selection of reactions from Celtic fans to Ntcham’s debut.

He failed to make a senior appearance for the club but already looks at home on the big stage in the green and white hoops.
