Celtic have ‘definitely’ found ‘ideal’ replacement for Edouard – Campbell

Celtic have already found their ideal replacement for Odsonne Edouard, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal and Everton forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the club’s recruitment team will have “a couple of players in mind” in preparation for the prospective exit of the 23-year-old this summer.

This site revealed last month that the French centre-forward has made it clear to the board that he wants to leave in the next transfer window.

Football Insider understands Edouard could leave Parkhead for as little as £10million with just one year remaining on his current contract.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun, interim boss John Kennedy revealed the club are making transfer plans for the summer even though Neil Lennon’s successor is yet to be appointed.

When asked by Football Insider if Celtic are ready for Edouard’s departure, Campbell said: “They will have definitely found their ideal replacement for Odsonne Edouard by now.

“I think they will have a couple of players in mind and probably one which is their first choice.

“To what level he plays the moment, I am not sure because they do not really have a King’s ransom to offer at the moment.

“We know Celtic historically have a good track record of bringing in good young players up there.

“There are some very smart people working at that football club. With what is going on across the road, you need these guys to earn their money in this close season because the squad needs improving.

“If they sell Edouard they need someone in who can do the business.”
