Chelsea fans tear into Pedro Neto as his ‘horrible’ stats emerge from display vs Wrexham

Chelsea fans did not hold back in their criticism of Pedro Neto after their win over Wrexham in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Blues came from behind twice to beat the Championship club 4-2 in extra time and book their place in the quarter-final.

Wrexham went ahead through Sam Smith in the first half, before Alejandro Garnacho’s strike was played off Arthur Okonkwo and into the net to level the scores.

A chaotic end to the game saw Josh Acheampong cancel out Callum Doyle’s goal, before George Dobson was sent off for a high challenge in stoppage time.

Garnacho and Joao Pedro scored to secure Chelsea’s win in extra time, despite a spirited effort from Wrexham.

Chelsea fans left furious by Pedro Neto

Neto has been criticised regularly by Chelsea fans this season, with the winger providing a constant source of frustration.

His decision-making was poor against Wrexham on Saturday, with one moment attracting particularly anger.

The winger had received the ball inside his own half and turned away from his man brilliantly before driving forward.

But faced with two passing options, Neto instead decided to attempt to chop past another retreating defender, who dispossessed him.

Interestingly, the stats would suggest the 25-year-old had a strong performance. He created six chances, completed five dribbles and made five recoveries.

It was repeated moments of poor decision-making that infuriated Chelsea fans, however, and they voiced their displeasure on social media.

One wrote: “We need to sell Pedro Neto to any club foolish enough to bid for him. He is horrible.”

And another made an interesting accusation, writing: “This guy has some dirt on our coaches, how’s he a professional footballer?”

Others shared the sentiment, asking Neto to “leave my club”, and suggesting a move to the Saudi Pro League could be on the cards in the summer.

Liam Rosenior must take note of developments

Saturday’s game was not the only time Chelsea fans have been left furious with Neto in recent weeks.

The winger was sent off against Arsenal at the start of the month, practically denying Liam Rosenior’s side the chance for an equaliser.

Neto served his one-match suspension against Aston Villa this week, a game that just so happened to produce one of Chelsea’s best performances of the season.

The Blues were fluid and superb in attack, winning 4-1 via Joao Pedro’s hat-trick. While Neto’s return against Wrexham suggests Rosenior did not learn from that game, it remains to be seen how the Englishman will set up against PSG on Wednesday.
