Clarke-Harris would ‘100%’ snub Premier League club to join ‘amazing’ Rangers after development – Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Jonson Clarke-Harris to snub a potential move to Sheffield United in favour of a switch to Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted the prospect of Champions League football and working under Steven Gerrard gives the Ibrox outfit an upper hand in their pursuit of the League One goal machine.
Football Insider revealed earlier this week Rangers talent spotters were set to watch the striker in the final games of Peterborough United’s season.
That began on Tuesday night when they were held to a 2-2 draw with Doncaster Rovers.
Asked whether Rangers would be a more exciting prospect for Clarke-Harris, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent.
“With the chance of maybe playing in the Champions League next season. You back Steven Gerrard to get them through the qualifying stages and into the Champions League.
“Definitely Rangers. Sheffield United are a good club and will be one of the favourites to come back up but what Steven Gerrard’s doing at Rangers is amazing.
“For sure, it’s a project that a lot of players will want to go and be a part of.”
Clarke-Harris has scored 31 goals in 48 games across all competitions this season for Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough.
The Posh need just a point against third-place Lincoln City on Saturday to secure promotion to the Championship.
In other news, Gerrard wants to offload a Rangers 26-year-old whose value has increased since January.
