Confirmed Aston Villa line-up v Newcastle: Attackers axed in four changes

By Harvey Byrne

Aston Villa have made four changes to their side to face Newcastle in the Championship on Monday evening.

Manager Steve Bruce has decided to bring Mile Jedinak, Birkir Bjarnason, Tommy Elphick and Neil Taylor into his line-up following last Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat against Barnsley.

This has seen attackers Albert Adomah and Jack Grealished axed to the bench while Jordan Amavi and Nathan Baker have also dropped out of the starting eleven.

Aston Villa announced the team on their official Twitter account ahead of the Championship encounter.

The Midlands giants are currently going through a poor spell of form which has seen them lose their last four matches in the league.

Additionally, they have not picked up all three points in a league match since the Boxing Day 2-1 win over Burton.

Newcastle at St James’ Park will certainly prove difficult foes for Bruce and his men as they sit in second place in the Championship table.

They will be looking to regain their top spot which a win will allow them to do, but they have won just two of their last five matches in all competitions.

When the two sides last met in September an Aaron Tshibola goal alongside an Elphick own goal completed a 1-1 draw, but it is felt that this is a must win game for Villa and Bruce as they sit all the way down in 17th with 15 matches left.
