Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ‘having a stinker’ as Everton source reveals transfer decision – pundit

Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin is “having a stinker” if he wants to join Arsenal instead of Newcastle this summer.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees forward’s summer plans.

A recruitment source told this site on Wednesday (27 April) that Calvert-Lewin, 25, has told friends he wants to join Arsenal over Newcastle this summer.

He is expected to leave Everton during the close season, with Football Insider revealing (19 April) the Toffees are open to offers in a bid to raise funds and balance the books.

McAvennie insists Calvert-Lewin is making the wrong call if he snubs a move to St James’ Park this summer.

“I’m not sure why you would go to Arsenal instead of Newcastle,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They won’t be far off each other soon and only one of those clubs is on the up in my opinion.

“I think he’s having a stinker if he goes to Arsenal, he has had such a bad season as well.

“So he needs to prove his fitness before thinking about moving on. I think him leaving is nailed on.

“He’s brilliant on his day but he hasn’t had the chance to show it this season.”

Calvert-Lewin has netted just three goals in an injury-plagued 2021/22 campaign.

However, he bagged 16 league goals during the 2020-21 season as he managed to make 33 appearances in the Premier League.
