Erling Haaland breaks silence on Man City injury bombshell as image released

Erling Haaland has taken to social media with a new message for his supporters after the Man City star suffered a new devastating injury.

Pep Guardiola was forced to replace the Norwegian star with Omar Marmoush during City’s FA Cup comeback victory against Bournemouth on Sunday, 30 March.

Haaland, who some believe regrets signing a new deal at Man City, had already missed a penalty before Evanilson gave the home side a well-deserved lead at the Vitality Stadium.

He had made amends for his error, scoring a much-needed equaliser, but he was nowhere to be seen when Marmoush sealed the Citizens’ spot in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium.

Guardiola confirmed that Haaland will be sidelined for up to seven weeks with the ankle injury he sustained during the clash, but based on his new message, he is confident of a quick return.

Pep Guardiola faces another setback in dismal Man City campaign

Football Insider verdict

Guardiola is under serious pressure at Man City, with fans deeply unhappy with the team’s overall performances this season, and not being able to compete at the top level.

The reigning Premier League champions could finish the season outside of the Champions League qualification spots, with Nottingham Forest and Chelsea currently occupying them.

Losing Haaland to injury is just yet another setback for City to deal with, though the signing of Marmoush in the winter transfer window should help soften the blow in the end-of-season run-in.

The Manchester club can still finish the campaign by lifting silverware, having set up an FA Cup semi-final clash with Nuno Espirito Santo‘s Forest side, though it will be no easy clash at Wembley.

With the number of goals that the 24-year-old has scored over the last three seasons, notching 120 goals in 138 matches, City will just need to find another way to win without his presence in the box.
