Exclusive: Man City losing £140,000 per day
Manchester City are paying out almost £1million per week to players currently sidelined through injury, sources have told Football Insider.
Pep Guardiola’s side are competing on all fronts this season as they look to bounce back from their trophyless campaign in 2024-25.
Man City are set to take on Newcastle United in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash on Tuesday (13 January), but they will be without multiple first-team players at St James’ Park.
Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Oscar Bobb and Savinho will all miss the trip to Tyneside.
Sources have told Football Insider Man City are paying £980,000 per week – or £140k each day – to players currently sidelined through injury.

How much are Man City’s injured stars earning?
Man City have been plagued by injuries to key players throughout the past two seasons.
Gvardiol is the latest star to have picked up a serious injury, with the Croatia international set to miss several months after suffering a fracture to his leg in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on 4 January.
It is understood the 23-year-old earns around £200k a week at the Etihad.

However, he is not the highest-earning star currently out of action for Man City.
Dias, who suffered a hamstring injury against Chelsea, rakes in £250k per week, with Stones believed to be on the same pay packet.
Elsewhere, Kovacic is on around £150k a week at the Etihad, but he is expected to be sidelined until March with an ankle problem.
Although Savinho has been linked with a Man City exit, the winger is expected to miss several weeks after being forced off in the goalless draw against Sunderland on 1 January.
The 21-year-old is understood to earn £80k a week with the 10-time English champions, while Bobb is on around £50k.
How Man City are responding to latest injury blows
Etihad chiefs have been making moves to strengthen Guardiola’s squad in the ongoing transfer window.
Man City signed Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth last week, with the deal worth an initial £62.5m and a further £1.5m in add-ons.

Meanwhile, Marc Guehi has emerged as a target for Man City following Gvardiol and Dias’s recent injuries.
Crystal Palace are believed to be holding out for around £35m for their captain, but they could be willing to negotiate given his contract is due to expire on 30 June.
Man City are looking to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table, with Guardiola’s side currently six points behind leaders Arsenal.
