Exclusive: Aston Villa 25-year-old unhappy after flashpoint in draw v Hull, will push for move

EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke

Aston Villa midfielder Leandro Bacuna was unhappy with fans’ reaction towards him in the draw with Hull City and will push for a move from the club, Football Insider sources understand.

Bacuna, who was the subject of a failed bid from Reading last month, was jeered by some sections of the Villa fans after being replaced 20 minutes from time by Andre Green.

Football Insiders sources understand Bacuna felt let down by the negative reaction of the fans towards him feeling he was being made a scapegoat for Villa’s failure to win.

Bacuna feels so strongly about it, he is now set to push for a move to Reading.

Villa rejected a £1.5m bid from Championship rivals Reading for Bacuna last month with the Royals unwilling to meet Villa’s unrealistic price-tag on the player’s head.

Football Insider sources understand Bacuna is shocked at Villa’s asking price for him and that they turned down Reading’s bid with the club looking to balance the books to stop them failing financial fair play regulations.

The reaction of some Villa fans towards Bacuna could now push the versatile performer towards the exit door at Villa Park and it remains to be seen if Reading will now rekindle their interest in the 25-year-old

Bacuna joined Villa from Dutch side Groningen in 2013 and has since featured over 120 times for the club, scoring eight goals.
