'Fantastic' – BBC pundit raves about one Leeds player in defeat v Millwall
BBC Radio Leeds pundit Noel Whelan has heaped praise on Pierre-Michel Lasogga for his two goals in Leeds United’s 4-3 defeat to Millwall at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas Christiansen’s men came from two goals behind to hold a 3-2 lead, despite having Liam Cooper sent off in the first half.
However they were beaten at the death by the visitors thanks to late strikes from Tom Elliott and Jed Wallace.
Lasogga netted either side of Kemar Roofe’s goal in the second half, bring to an end two-month long goal drought in the Championship.
Before Saturday, the German was facing fierce criticism from the fans for his lack of goals for the Whites, with his last strike coming against Derby on Halloween.
However against Millwall, Lasogga was in fine form and BBC pundit Whelan was quick to point that out as a major positive from the defeat.
“The positives there, you look at Lasogga. Two great finishes, fantastic finishes,” said Whelan as shown on West Yorkshire Sport’s official Twitter account on Saturday.
Lasogga is currently on loan at Leeds from Bundesliga side Hamburg.
The German target man was snapped up in the aftermath of Chris Wood’s £15million move to Burnley but so far he has failed to come anywhere near to matching the Kiwi’s goalscoring record.
Lasogga has scored seven goals in 18 appearances across all competitions for Leeds.
In other Leeds United news, this £3million duo may be offloaded on temporary deals this month.
