Sources: Cox signs four-year Brentford contract after medical completed
Matthew Cox has signed a four-year Brentford contract after completing a medical, Football Insider understands.
This site revealed yesterday (20 July) he was undergoing a medical with the Premier League new boys.
A Brentford source has now told Football Insider he has passed the medical and has signed a four-year deal.
Football Insider revealed last week (15 July) the Bees had submitted a bid to AFC Wimbledon for the teenage goalkeeper.
Cox was handed his first professional contract last summer but is yet to make his senior debut.
However, he was named on the bench 17 times in League One for AFC Wimbledon last season.
He is also highly rated by England and earned his first two Under-17 caps in March.
Given his lack of experience, he is likely to link up with the London club's 'B' team initially.
Brentford B compete outside of the traditional Under-23s structure and have a strong recent history of producing players for Thomas Frank's first-team.
Ben Winterbottom and Nathan Shepperd, both 20, are the club’s current B team goalkeepers.
Football Insider learned earlier today (21 July) that Brentford have also agreed a fee for Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer.
It is understood he has also passed a medical and is set to join in a deal worth £18million including add-ons.
