Forshaw handed new ‘lease of life’ at Leeds after Thorp Arch latest – Mills

Adam Forshaw’s return to training will give the whole Leeds United squad a big boost, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites and England defender suggested the midfielder’s return is “like a new signing” after he has been missing for so long.

Forshaw has not featured for Leeds since August 2019 after struggling with a hip injury.

Football Insider revealed ahead of the January window that Leeds hoped to loan him out to allow him to regain his match sharpness.

However, he failed to prove that he was fit enough for a temporary exit and he is still yet to feature for the club’s Under-23s side as is often the way with injured Leeds players.

But Leeds fans hopes of seeing him in a white shirt again were given a boost this week when he was spotted mixing with the main group in a training video released on LUTV.

And Mills has insisted he will be welcomed back with open arms.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “When a player has been at a club for a long time and comes back from injury it’s like a new signing.

“He’ll be delighted to be back involved in the day-to-day training. The lads will welcome him back in the team and those training sessions.

“It’s a new lease of life, when you come back from a long-term injury and start to play football again you start to do what you’re there to do.

“You’re not there to sit in the treatment room. That’s not your job.

“It’s a huge bonus I would say, when you start training again.”

Forshaw has played over 50 times for Leeds and has previous Premier Leauge experience with Middlesborough.

He played 35 games of the 2016/17 season when Boro were relegated from the top-flight.

In other news, Leeds United are willing to listen to offers for a big-money 2020 signing as their transfer plan is revealed.
