‘I spoke to my sources’ – Keith Wyness reveals three Arsenal first-XI stars who could leave this summer

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard could be among the players the club will listen to offers on in the summer transfer window.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who states that Gabriel Martinelli and Myles Lewis-Skelly could also be sold.

The Gunners spent over £250million in last summer’s transfer window, and they could be forced to sell a star in order to stay in line with financial rules.

Mikel Arteta has spent over £900m in the transfer market since his arrival in 2019, with Arsenal set to continue spending in the summer.

‘Good source’ reveals transfer latest at Arsenal

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – was “surprised” to hear of the trio of stars Arsenal could look to sell.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the Gunners will be able to cope with losing one “major name.”

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “That was a big question and I spoke to a couple of my Arsenal sources about this as well. Interestingly, the names that were coming up, three that were coming up, was Odegaard, Martinelli and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

“Which surprised me, all those three surprised me because I’ve started believing that they’re all fixtures in the Arsenal team, but I do believe it would be one of those three that would go.

“I think there does need to be a bit of a change. I think they need to freshen up the squad and I don’t see anything wrong with them selling one of their major names because they’ve got a pretty deep squad and I think it would be good to just show that there’s pressure on them to perform. It’s a difficult thing.

“Again, a lot will depend on the final end of the season. A lot of things can happen yet in terms of injuries or people who could actually perform really well and carry the team across the threshold if they can get it to win the league.

“And out of that, there may be some unlikely heroes that may mean they might not be going. But I think it would be out of those three from what I’m hearing, from a pretty good source who would be off in the summer.”

Myles Lewis-Skelly plans Arsenal exit

Sources told Football Insider that Arsenal were open to letting Lewis-Skelly leave on loan in the summer window.

Everton are one club interested in agreeing a deal for the 19-year-old, who has started just one Premier League game this season.

Lewis-Skelly had been a regular in the Arsenal team last season, but the England international has seen his playing time reduced since the arrival of Piero Hincapie.
