I was at the Etihad, this is what I thought of Elliot Anderson’s Man City audition vs Nottingham Forest

The Etihad Stadium was bouncing until Elliot Anderson plunged a dagger into Manchester City‘s Premier League title aspirations.

Vitor Pereira’s Nottingham Forest put up an incredible fight on Wednesday, 4 March, coming from behind twice to draw 2-2, all while Arsenal narrowly beat Brighton away from home.

The gap at the top of the Premier League table has been extended to seven points, although the Gunners have played one more game, but some supporters are already looking ahead to the summer.

Man City clearly already have transfer plans, with Anderson one player heavily linked with the Etihad ahead of the upcoming window, and he made a noticeable contribution in sinking the Citizens.

Elliot Anderson stuns as Nottingham Forest claim surprise point

Several teams in the Premier League are already lining up for the 23-year-old’s signature, with Pep Guardiola’s side being one of them, and of course, Man United being another.

It is not a surprise at all to see clubs keeping tabs on the player, but until you see him in the skin, it can be difficult to understand what he does in all the moments without the ball.

In his 90 minutes on the pitch [FotMob], Anderson scored, created one big chance, took 72 touches, completed two of his four dribbles, made five tackles and six clearances, and entered into 21 duels.

Ballon d’Or winner, Rodri, was also on the pitch, but up against Anderson, it almost seemed that Man City fans were getting a close-up look at life after the Spaniard.

At the Etihad, Anderson was simply unplayable. There is no other way of phrasing it.

On his best day, the England international is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

At just 23 years of age, the world is already at his feet. Or the world is his oyster? Either way, he has the potential to leave a legacy in the Premier League.

Of course, we City fans would love him to do it at the Etihad. There are still improvements he can make to his game, but even just spending one season with Guardiola would be incredible for his career.
