If Rangers don’t get Gerrard it will have been worth it for the reaction from Celtic fans

Rangers could be set to appoint Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard as their new manager, according to a report, but even if they don’t it will have been worth it just for the meltdown from Celtic fans.
ESPN report that the 37-year-old has been offered a four-year deal to become the next manager at Ibrox while Celtic fans plead for someone to pay them some attention.
As newspapers and websites around the globe have been covering the news of Gerrard possibly heading to Ibrox – Celtic fans have found themselves insisting it is all part of the usual media conspiracy they think exists.
Despite being on the brink of lifting their seventh successive title with a win over their bitter rivals on Sunday, Celtic have been very much a footnote this week as the world’s media cover the prospect of one of the best players of his generation taking the reigns at Ibrox.
Gerrard’s potential arrival at Ibrox seems to be big box office and has attracted more attention to Scottish football in a few days than Celtic hiring Brendan Rodgers and subsequent ‘invincible’ run did over the whole of last season.
While it looks as though Gerrard will be the next man in the hotseat at Ibrox, if somehow it does fall though and the Gers need to find an alternative, the meltdown it has caused among Celtic fans has been more than worth it.
