Jhon Duran is ‘sensational’ but difficult for Aston Villa to manage – pundit
Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran’s attitude behind the scenes has been brought into question despite his electric start to the season on the pitch.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson stated that it’s “about his character,” as to whether Duran makes it at Villa long term.
The 20-year-old scored a sensational goal in midweek to ensure his side defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 in the Champions League.
It was his third match-winner of the season and his sixth goal overall as he continues to impress people with his performances.
Jhon Duran’s attitude has to be right to thrive in his current Aston Villa role
“Jhon Duran, it’s about his character I think, that’s what I’ve heard,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“When they’ve got Ollie Watkins there, he’s not going to play and the way that the manager plays, the way that Emery wants his team to play, he’s very focused on that single strike with Ollie Watkins.
“Jhon Duran scored some sensational goals and he certainly knows how to finish.
“It’s about the player, about the player’s character, what he wants and whether there is a problem off the pitch.
“Because if he’s coming on week in and week out doing that and he’s not playing every week and he’s not starting every week, [it] takes a different character to go, ‘okay, I’m fine. Yeah, I’m happy with that, that’s my lot where I’m at Aston Villa.’
“Or is he going to be wanting to move?

“Obviously, heavily linked with West Ham in the last window. “He’s only going to get linked with more and more clubs the way that he’s playing, the goals that he’s scoring.”
