‘Pieces without him’, ‘The man we need’ – Leeds fans react to official 26-y/o update

Luke Ayling has returned to training for the last few days with the Leeds United squad, as confirmed by Whites boss Paul Heckingbottom, and it’s news that has been greeted by supporters.

The right-back last featured for the Whites in January against Nottingham Forest but has been missing from action with an ankle injury ever since and has been greatly missed.

With Gaetano Berardi stepping in for the former Arsenal defender but struggling with disciplinary issues, the latest of which has seen the Swiss full-back suspended for the remainder of the season, it’s made Ayling’s absence all the more noticeable.

The Whites have gone into free fall following the 26-year-old’s absence from the team, to a point where they have managed just three victories since Thomas Christiansen’s sacking back in February.

The return of the full-back adds to the feel-good factor currently surrounding the club, who on Thursday confirmed that Pablo Hernandez would be extending his stay at Elland Road for a further two years, and defender Tom Pearce has been offered a new deal too.

And supporters were resoundingly pleased to hear the news with barely a negative word to say as Ayling nears his comeback.

Here is a round-up of Leeds fans reactions after hearing the update from their manager:
