Leeds have potential boost in hunt to sign midfielder after PL colossus is spotted at rivals
COMMENT
Leeds United have had a potential boost in their hunt to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Forshaw after Liverpool’s Marko Grujic was spotted signing a deal with promotion rivals Cardiff.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Leeds had joined Cardiff in the race for Forshaw, 26, but now it appears that Neil Warnock has landed a different midfielder – and that may potentially leave the Yorkshire club in a one-horse race for the Riverside outcast.
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie claimed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday that United have been in talks with Boro over trying to sign Forshaw this month and were “confident” of getting ahead of Cardiff.
Liverpool midfielder Grujic, 21, has now been pictured with the Welsh giants ahead of a reported loan deal and that could mean there interest in Forshaw has ended.
The Premier League colossus, who stands at 6ft 3in and is compared to Nemanja Matic, may well be a good swoop for Leeds’ Championship rivals, but he lacks something that Forshaw has – experience.
Forshaw is only 26-years-old and should be around the peak of his career, but he has already helped Brentford and Middlesbrough to promotions in the past few years.
Thomas Christiansen needs a central-midfielder and to get one that is available this month who has a great understanding of rising through the leagues would be a big boost for the Whites.
In other Leeds United news, this £1.5million Whites player is highly likely to leave Elland Road.
