Leeds United news: ‘Concrete’ Kalvin Phillips claim issued – ‘I can get you £600,000-a-week at Man City’

Agents may be telling Kalvin Phillips he can earn an astronomical “£600,000-a-week” at Man City if he quits Leeds United this summer, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender insisted Phillips must take any promises made by agents with a “pinch of salt”.

A recruitment source told Football Insider last Wednesday (9 February) the England star has been told by a leading agency “we will get you to Liverpool”.

It comes after Mills told this site last week (6 March) he was set to or already had switched agents from Kevin Sharp.

Asked how Phillips will react to the game’s biggest agents circling him, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “As a player, you get a million phone calls and people promising the world.

“People saying ‘I can get you £500,000-a-week at Liverpool’ or ‘I can get you £600,000-a-week at Man City’. It’s like, can you really?

“What is the actual truth in that? You think ‘You know what, I’ll pick the phone up to Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola and I’ll actually see for myself if there’s any interest’.

“Agents will promise the world and often not be able to deliver.

“Of course, he’s a good player and could move to anywhere he wants. As an agent, once you’ve got that player signed you stand to make an awful lot of money wherever he goes.

“I would always take those conversations with a pinch of salt. Until Liverpool, Man City or Man United puts a concrete bid in and an offer on the table it’s all hearsay and rumour.”
