Liverpool plot second attempt to sign teenage sensation, PL rivals in pursuit – reports

By Danny Wright

Liverpool are plotting to make a second attempt to sign Hull full-back Josh Tymon, according to a report.

ESPN claims that they have been told by sources close to the KCOM Stadium that the Reds are facing competition from Premier League rivals Stoke and Watford for the teenage sensation.

It is also understood that Aston Villa are also in the race to sign him.

The Sun claimed last year that Liverpool were looking to sign Tymon in the January transfer window, but a move failed to materialise meaning that they are now set for another pursuit of the 18-year-old.

ESPN reports that Hull are “facing a battle to keep hold of” Tymon following their relegation from the Premier League and it is said that he is yet to agree a professional contract on Humberside, despite playing a part in the Tigers’ first-team this season.

The left-back made 12 appearances across all competitions and scored one goal which came in a 2-0 FA Cup victory over Swansea in January.

He is mainly deployed as a left-back but can also play on the left wing and has the capabilities of a player that can play in a more central role.

Football Insider Verdict

Tymon is a very promising young full-back and he definitely has the potential to become one of the Premier League’s top players in the position in the future. However that doesn’t mean a move away from the KCOM would be beneficial to him at this stage of his career. Hull’s relegation could be a blessing in disguise for Tymon, who needs to earn first-team experience. He has the ability to play in the first-team of a Championship side, so a year or two with Hull, to get precious senior minutes, will be invaluable. Liverpool need a left-back, but they also need one who can step into Jurgen Klopp’s plans straight away. Tymon is good, but he is not good enough for that just yet.
