Liverpool player ratings v Middlesbrough: 28-year-old ace is 9/10
By Alex Stevens
Football Insider rates the Liverpool players after their 3-0 win against Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Wednesday night at the Riverside.
Simon Mignolet 7 – All eyes on the Belgian but he couldn’t have asked for a much easier return game. Made a smart stop in the first half from Viktor Fischer.
Nathaniel Clyne 8 – Great cross for Liverpool’s first goal and finally delivering some attacking returns down the right.
Dejan Lovren 8 – Fantastic game for the maligned centre-back. Put to bed the myth that he can’t play without Matip.
Ragnar Klavan 7 – Solid at the back, although Middlesbrough didn’t offer much.
James Milner 6 – Enjoyed space on the left but couldn’t deliver an end product. No problems at the back.
Jordan Henderson 6 – Seemed like he didn’t want to go forwards today.
Georginio Wijnaldum 6 – Pedestrian in the centre of midfield with short passes failing to create anything. Needs to make quicker decisions.
Adam Lallana 9 – Proving again how important he is to this Liverpool side, especially with Philippe Coutinho out. The 28-year-old got a brace and added a vital block at the back. Superb.
Roberto Firmino 5 – Extremely quiet night and the exciting Brazilian is finding it hard to make an impact from out wide.
Sadio Mane 7 – Trademark marauding runs but no end product this time. Unlucky to hit the post in the first half with a fantastic shot and had some good chances early in the second half.
Divock Origi 8 – Has made a fine fist of his opportunity in the Liverpool first team and continued with another brilliant team goal tonight, before setting up Lallana for his second.
