‘Liverpool prepared to meet asking price as they close in on second signing’

Liverpool are prepared to meet Milos Kerkez’s £45million asking price as they plan to accelerate talks with Bournemouth in the coming days.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 21-year-old is their top target following a deal for Jeremie Frimpong.

Kerkez is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and they will move quickly to get ahead of potential rivals for his signature.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with Frimpong ahead of a £29.5million move from Bayer Leverkusen.

With one full-back all-but-signed, the Reds will now turn their attentions towards the other side of their defence where the Bournemouth man has impressed.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed in March that Kerkez wants to join Liverpool and has informed allies of his desire to move to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool eye Milos Kerkez swoop after Frimpong deal agreed

Brown told Football Insider as early as November that Liverpool are in the race to sign Kerkez as they have been impressed by his displays at the Vitality Stadium.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the Reds plan to make progress towards the deal in the coming days.

Left-back is a key position for them,” he told Football Insider.

“Robertson has done such a good job for them over a long period of time, but he’s come to the stage of his career where he can step aside a bit.

“They like Milos Kerkez, he’s had a very impressive season at Bournemouth.

“He’s not the type of player who only performs once in a blue moon, he’s very solid and very consistent.

“He ticks plenty of boxes for Liverpool, and that’s the one they’re going to push for next.

“Bournemouth want around £45million for him, and that’s not going to be a problem for Liverpool.

“They might try to negotiate it down a bit, but the issue you have when you’re the champions is clubs know you’ve got money to spend.

“It’s not an outrageous fee though, it’s one from what I hear they will be willing to pay.

“Kerkez is as good as anything else out there at left-back, so they want to move quickly because they’re not the only ones looking at him.”

Real Madrid’s Rodrygo asking price revealed

Following speculation about defensive reinforcements at Anfield, Liverpool plan to turn their attentions towards the other end of the pitch.

Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool want to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo as one of two attacking reinforcements when the transfer window opens.

His winning experience as a regular under Carlo Ancelotti is seen as a key asset, but a move will depend on whether they deem his lofty price tag good value for money.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 18 May that Real Madrid will demand £100million for Rodrygo as a result of the Premier League interest in him.
