Liverpool star Roberto Firmino backed to sign for Serie A club after source’s reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie wouldn’t be surprised if Roberto Firmino joins Roma when he leaves Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker hailed Firmino’s ability and claimed he would fit in under Jose Mourinho.

The 31-year-old is out of contract this summer and has already made it clear to Jurgen Klopp’s side that he wishes to move on from Anfield at the end of the season.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (28 March), Mourinho’s Roma side are eyeing up the forward as a potential replacement for Tammy Abraham, who is expected to quit in the summer.

In February, Football Insider revealed that Chelsea are weighing up a move to bring Abraham back to Stamford Bridge this summer.

When asked if Firmino could be tempted to play under Jose Mourinho at Roma, McAvennie told Football Insider:I think so, the guy has got quality.

Who would not want him? Everyone has a go at Mourinho but he is the kind of manager I would run through a brick wall for.

Some of Firmino’s touches and flicks are unbelievable. I look at him and think ‘wow, how did he see that player moving there?’ That is just the kind of player he is.

Wolves

Tammy Abraham has done very well but he will move on so I could see it.

Why would you not want to go to Roma? You have got one of the best managers in the world.
