Liverpool tipped to sign ‘superstar’ after near-£70m reveal – pundit

Liverpool chiefs could give Jurgen Klopp all of the club’s Champions League prize money to spend this summer.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about a boost to the club’s finances.

Finance guru Dr Dan Plumley has told Football Insider (5 May), Liverpool have already earned £68.4million in Champions League prize money.

Liverpool beat Villareal 3-2 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate on Tuesday (3 May) to book their place in their third Champions League final in five years.

McAvennei is tipping Liverpool to reinvest the prize money they have earned so far in the playing squad.

“You have to hope Klopp is given that money to spend,”

“Liverpool is such a well-run club, you would think £70million could go straight into the transfer kitty for this summer.

“You think who you can pick up for that kind of money as well. You could go and get yourself another superstar like Luis Diaz.

“Who doesn’t want to join Liverpool right now, they are winning absolutely everything.

“So there is going to be this £70million there, I would want that to spend if I was Klopp.

“I would feel like I had earned that.”

Liverpool won all six of their group stage games, earning £2.4m each time, with prize money from the knockout taking the total figure to £68.4m.
