‘He has a lot of quality’ – Candeias delivers verdict on Rangers 21-year-old

By Harvey Byrne

Sunday signing Daniel Candeias has told Rangers fans that fellow summer addition Dalcio “has a lot quality.”

The Ibrox giants have been very busy so far this summer and Candeias marked their fifth signing of the window, following Dalcio, Ryan Jack, Bruon Alves and Fabio Cardoso to Glasgow.

Now, the names of former Aberdeen captain Jack and veteran Alves are recognisable to the Gers support, but only Pedro Caixinha knows how well the likes of Dalcio, Cardoso and Candeias will adapt to life in Scotland.

However, Candeias, who claims to have watched Dalcio in a “few games” has told how he believes the 21-year-old to be a good young player and that he will only improve in the future.

“Having the opportunity to play with Bruno will help Fabio a lot; when I was at Porto he did the same for me and for the young kid. I think that will be really important for him,” told Candeias, as quoted by the official Rangers website.

“I don’t know Dalcio personally but I have had the opportunity to watch him in a few games and he has a lot of quality, for a player of his generation this is a really good opportunity for him here to improve his football.”

Like Candeias, Dalcio has made the move to Rangers from Portuguese giants Benfica.

However, Benfica have not let the youngster leave permanently with his deal a season-long loan at Ibrox.

The midfielder has previously been capped six times at Under-20s level for Portugal and last season he played 33 times for Benfica’s B team.

Rangers fans will now be hoping that Candeias’ words ring true in the next campaign as they look to close the gap with Celtic.

In other Rangers news, Simo Valakari believes this Gers transfer target is similar to Premier League star.
