Man City ‘holding conversations’ about signing Destiny Udogie

Destiny Udogie is the latest player to be linked with a move away from Tottenham as Manchester City have set their sights on a potential summer deal.

The 23-year-old has missed large parts of this season through injury, but is widely expected to seek a move away if they suffer relegation.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man City have held conversations about Udogie behind the scenes as they weigh up their options.

Pep Guardiola has been a long-term admirer of the Italy international and could now be tempted to capitalise on Tottenham’s misfortune.

Despite completing the signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves last year, Guardiola still wants a new left-back as Man City step up their transfer plans.

Man City plot move to sign Destiny Udogie

Football Insider revealed Man City are interested in Andrea Cambiaso, with new full-backs high on Guardiola’s list, and Udogie one of a number of targets.

Spurs currently sit just one point above the relegation zone, and even if they remain in the Premier League next season, key players are expected to depart.

Destiny Udogie has shown he’s a top Premier League player,” Brown told Football Insider.

“He’s long been linked with Man City, and this is what will be happening now.

“Man City are looking for a new left-back, so they will be sitting down and assessing, who are the best left-backs in the Premier League and in Europe?

“It’s not just thinking who might be available, they will have done their homework on a number of options, and I expect Udogie will be among those.

“So Man City are holding conversations about Udogie, what will he cost, what are his wages likely to be, how does he fit into our team?

“Then, if Tottenham get relegated or he wants to leave because of how the season has gone, they’ll know all about him and be ready to make a move – or not, if that’s what they decide.”

Tino Livramento update as Man City eye new full-backs

While the addition of a new left-back remains part of Man City’s transfer plans, they are also eyeing potential right-back signings, with big names on their radar.

Newcastle United star Tino Livramento has been a long-term target at the Etihad, and there is now a growing feeling they could make a move this summer.

Football Insider revealed on 20 February that Man City are expected to move for Livramento this summer after tracking his progress for some time.

The Magpies are facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League again, and the lure of competing for the top prizes could see Livramento leave.

The England right-back has established himself as one of the best Premier League players in his position and is therefore a target for the title challengers.
