Man City making new move to keep Kyle Walker after ‘huge’ Tuchel reveal – sources
Man City are set to discuss a new contract with Kyle Walker amid strong interest from Bayern Munich, sources have told Football Insider.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Citizens are “confident” the 33-year-old will choose to remain at the club past this summer.
Football Insider revealed on Saturday (24 June) that Bayern are hoping to tempt Walker by handing him a longer contract than is currently being offered to him by Man City.
It is believed current Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is a “huge fan” of the right-back.
Pep Guardiola’s side are set to respond by opening new talks with the England international – who currently has 12 months left to run on his deal.
A well-placed source has revealed that Walker remains “content” at the Etihad Stadium despite the interest in his services.
He made 39 appearances across all competitions for Man City in a historic 2022-23 campaign which saw them win the treble.
Walker, who earns a reported £160,000-a-week, has now won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and one Champions League with Man City.
He played a key role against Real Madrid across both legs of the Champions League semi-final – but was unexpectedly dropped for the final against Inter Milan earlier this month.
Doubts over the defender’s future emerged back in April when Guardiola claimed Walker “cannot play” in his new inverted system – but he was restored to the lineup soon after those comments.

Treble-winning midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has already left Man City this summer, joining Barcelona after the expiry of his contract.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed earlier this month (1 June) that Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic is set to join the City ranks – with his move now “99% done”.
