Man United tipped to complete Tammy Abraham deal after source’s reveal – ‘I’ve seen him at the training ground’, says pundit’

Alan Hutton has backed former teammate Tammy Abraham to thrive at Man United if he seals a summer move to Old Trafford.

The former Aston Villa and Tottenham defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old would be a more cost-effective alternative to reported top target Victor Osimhen.

Sources told this site on Sunday (5 March) that Abraham is part of a four-man striker shortlist for Man United this summer – alongside Osimhen, Harry Kane and Benjamin Sesko.

Football Insider revealed on 27 February that Chelsea are also weighing up a move to bring the Roma forward back to Stamford Bridge in the off-season.

Wout Weghorst was brought on loan as a stop-gap following Cristiano Ronaldo’s winter exit but has failed to become a reliable goalscoring option.

Abraham has notched seven goals and five assists in 34 appearances for Roma this season.

He told Football Insider: “I really like him.

“I worked with him at Aston Villa, so I’ve seen him up close and personal.

“Not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. On the training ground, he works so hard to improve daily.

“He could do so well at a team like Man United, where they’re so in need of a number nine like him.

“He wouldn’t cost as much as Osimhen, and I think Tammy has got the right experience to fit in and do well at Old Trafford.”

Chelsea

Abraham scored 15 goals and registered four assists in 34 top-flight appearances as Chelsea’s main striker during the 2019-20 season.

His contract at Roma runs until June 2026.
