Marcus Rashford to Barcelona: ‘Man United update after Flick gets what he wants’
Marcus Rashford’s proposed Man United exit to Barcelona has been heavily-affected after Hansi Flick got a boost he has pushed for at the Camp Nou, Sky Sports report.
The 27-year-old had previously been linked with PSG, AC Milan, Monaco and Borussia Dortmund, who Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider were leading the race to sign Rashford.
However, despite the interest from those clubs, it is understood that Rashford is prioritising a move to the Spanish giants [The Athletic].
The two parties held talks on a potential loan move for the England international [The Mirror], as the Catalan club look to bolster their forward line.
Despite Rashford’s hopes for a move to Spain, Barcelona have made their priority extending the contracts of midfielders Pedri and Gavi.
The extensions to Ronald Araujo and Gerard Martin also now mean the Spanish club are reliant on outgoings to create salary space before they can make a decision on Rashford’s affordability.
Eric Garcia has now rejected a permanent move to Como, an outcome that manager Hansi Flick wanted, making a Rashford move even less likely.
Man United should look to move Rashford on this January
Football Insider Verdict
Rashford’s future at United has been a topic that has dominated headlines for too long.
The protracted conversation about the England international’s relationship with his boyhood club has stretched across three managerial regimes, and the club and player need to find a solution.
Despite seemingly finding some form at the end of Erik ten Hags reign as United manager, and scoring in Amorim’s first game in charge, it is clear that Rashford needs to move on.
He is clearly no longer in the Portuguese manager’s plans, having only featured four more times under Amorim, and was absent from the squad to face Rangers in the Europa League.
Instead, the Amorim seems to favour younger players like Amad, and letting Rashford move on will allow the club to invest in their young talent.

Finding a club that wants him wont be a problem for Rashford, he is clearly still a talented player, finding a club that will pay his wages is a different issue.
The Englishman is earning a reported £350,000-a-week [The Mirror], and that figure reportedly priced Dortmund out of a move for Rashford.
Now, Barcelona look set to be the latest club unable to meet the demands of the England international.
