McAvennie tips Aubameyang to be severely punished after latest Covid breach
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be severely disciplined by Arsenal following his recent breach of coronavirus guidelines.
That is according to ex-Aston Villa and West Ham man Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Gabon striker was recorded getting a tattoo in direct contravention of the rules set out by the club and the government.
Numerous reports claim that the club is investigating after London-based tattoo artist Nicolas Bernal posted the footage of the Arsenal skipper to his Instagram account.
The news surfaced just two days after the 31-year-old scored his first Arsenal hat-trick in the 4-2 win over Leeds on Sunday.
McAvennie claims that the powers that be will surely make an example of Aubameyang and that he is grateful the tattoo trend was not around in his day.
“I would think the authorities have got to come down hard on him,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“Why do these boys do it? Unless whoever has done his tattoo was in his bubble, which would be a surprise but you never know nowadays with these boys. Maybe it’s his best pal.
“They’ve all got so many tattoos nowadays. Thank god it’s not something I’ve ever considered.”
Aubameyang kept his place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI in last night’s 1-1 Europa League round-of-32 draw with Benfica.
Covid breaches have been in the headlines this week after five Rangers players were caught flouting regulations by attending a party on Saturday, as revealed by this site.
In other news, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has agreed a deal in principle to become manager of Bournemouth, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
