‘Delighted’ – Murty confirms deal for attacker ‘no brainer’ as Rangers paperwork finalised
Graeme Murty has heaped praise on Rangers winger Daniel Candeias, after he signed a new two-and-a-half year deal, saying it was a “no-brainer”.
Candeias confirmed his new contract after scoring in the Old Firm clash on Sunday, and Murty is delighted.
Talking after the pre-match press conference ahead of the Premiership game with Kilmarnock on Saturday, Murty said that Candeias is “delighted to be here and wanted to stay”.
Later on in the press conference he returned to the player, saying that he’s the first player in the door each morning and that he’s a “top professional”.
His words were quoted on the official Rangers twitter page on Friday lunchtime.
Football insider verdict:
Murty’s words show how much Candeias is valued at the club and his remarks will delight Rangers fans who have taken to the winger for the passion that he shows on the pitch. In the Old Firm clash, he charged over to the Rangers fans clutching the badge when he scored his side’s second goal, and that’s exactly the sort of commitment you want. Add in Alfredo Morelos and that’s two players that Pedro Caixinha signed who have gone on to make a success of themselves at Rangers. Both have now signed new deals and that’s another feather in the cap for the caretaker manager.
