Ndombele blasted after source’s update and claims Tottenham fans ‘deserve better’ – pundit

Noel Whelan has slammed Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele after he told the club he wants to leave before the transfer deadline.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds and Middlesbrough striker insisted Spurs fans “deserve better” than the ‘uncommitted’ 24-year-old.

As revealed by this site on August 19th, the centre-midfielder has told Spurs chiefs he wants to leave before the end of the window.

Ndombele has been frozen out of the Spurs squad by new manager Nuno Espirito Santo despite being fit to play.

He was not included in the matchday squad which won at Wolves on Sunday.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Russell Edge for his assessment of the situation, Whelan said: “He’s hardly been there long.

“I know he’s a very talented player but my eyes don’t deceive me.

“He can be one of the best players in the world but I question his commitment. I question his attitude and it is not just me watching from afar that thinks this.

“I don’t know the player personally but many pundits feel the same. We cannot all be wrong.

“Spurs have one of the best stadiums in the world. The best training facilities in the world. Everything is there for him to succeed but managers still can’t get the best out of him.

His consistency is all over the place. When he is at it he is brilliant but the majority of the time he is not.

Tottenham, Daniel Levy

“The player wants to leave and that is not commitment. Tottenham fans deserve better.

“Levy will not let him go for peanuts though. He will want as much money as possible.”
