
Newcastle player ratings v Leeds: Attacker shines

Football Insider rates the Newcastle players after their 2-0 victory against Leeds in Sunday’s Championship match at Elland Road.
Karl Darlow 7 – Couple of critical saves when they were just a goal ahead and confident in the air all game.
Vurnon Anita 8 – Supported Newcastle attack well and assisted Gayle for his second goal after a slick move as he capitalised on getting the nod over DeAndre Yedlin.
Jamaal Lascelles 6 – Dealt well with Leeds’ ariel pressure and gave a solid captain’s performance.
Ciaran Clark 6 – Communicated well alongside Lascelles and showed his defensive experience.
Paul Dummett 6 – Strong performance at left-back and stuck well to his defensive duty.
Matt Ritchie 6 – Sound performance without being able to threaten with his dangerous left foot.
Jack Colback 6 – Looked assured in the midfield and comfortable in possession.
Jonjo Shelvey 7 – Dictated the pace in the middle and showed his exquisite range of passing.
Yoan Gouffran 6 – Couple of dangerous crosses but just short of his recent standards.
Ayoze Perez 7 – Threatened on several occasions with some great moments of skill to torment the Leeds defence.
Dwight Gayle 9 – Worked tirelessly and pounced on a Rob Green mistake top open scoring, produced a great run for his second goal.
