Newcastle sanction January transfer of 19-year-old – reliable journalist

Freddie Woodman will be allowed to leave Newcastle on loan in January, according to a reliable journalist.
The Evening Chronicle’s chief sports writer Lee Ryder revealed on his personal Twitter account that the 19-year-old is interesting a whole host of Championship and Scottish Premiership sides.
Newcastle’s number 41 is currently way down the pecking order at St. James’ Park, as Rafa Benitez has an abundance of goalkeepers at his disposal.
The likes of Matz Sels, Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow are keeping Woodman on the sidelines for the Toon, who is yet to feature for the Magpies’ first team. Tim Krul is currently on loan with Dutch giants Ajax.
A regular England Under-19’s international, Woodman made his England Under-21’s debut in October and is regarded as one of England’s best young goalkeepers.
But without a senior appearance for Newcastle, Woodman is likely to want to leave Tyneside in search of regular playing time.
The teenage ace has already spent time on loan with Hartlepool and Crawley, and will now be allowed to leave on loan for a third time to gain first-team experience.
Football Insider verdict:
A loan move at either Championship or SPL level for Woodman will be a standard of football that he is not used to. However, it is obvious that the teenage goalkeeper has the talent to star at that level after featuring for England’s Under 21 side without even featuring for his club side. With four years still remaining on his Toon contract, Woodman will be hoping that he is able to impress on loan and earn a place in Rafa Benitez’s first-team plans next season. Regular game time for Woodman will prove priceless, as he looks to take his career to the next level and fulfil his potential.
