Newcastle tipped to ‘go crazy’ and sign six players in January after news in last 24 hours – pundit
Frank McAvennie has backed Newcastle to sign six new players in January.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the Magpies have “money to burn” as they attempt to avoid relegation.
The Telegraph reported on Wednesday (29 December), that Newcastle are “confident” of sealing new signings early in with window with several deals bubbling away behind the scenes.

It was also claimed that, despite agents demanding high fees after Newcastle’s takeover, there is “growing confidence” the club can move quickly when the window opens.
McAvennie insists Eddie Howe’s side need a whole new defence as well as a midfielder and a striker.
“That defence is so poor, so poor,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They need to replace all of that, a whole new back four because that current defence is nowhere near good enough.
“They have also needed a new striker for ages, Wilson is good but he won’t be available for games because of his injury problems.
“I’m looking at the midfield and I think that could be freshened up. Newcastle have the money to do all of that as well.
“They have money to burn, I know that’s getting repetitive now but you have to be excited about what Newcastle are going to do.
“I think they could go crazy and spend as much as they can, that’s what Newcastle need.”

Newcastle remain in the relegation zone after drawing with Man United on Monday (27 December).
However, they only sit two points from safety.
